I was just watching Star News online and there was this beautiful folklore of how the Lalbaghcha Ganapati was installed the first time ever! Its amazing and always amazes me how small incidents lead to big and sometimes life turning anecdotes and thus settle as legends.
Here I was trying to get near the Khairatabad Ganesh in Hyderabad and couldnt stand the crowd. When I though of searching online for photographs and videos of Ganapathy deva here is a list of what i found actual Ganapati mandal online. Isnt that awesome ofcourse nothing like having a darshan physically and in person but atleast we have a second chance. One best thing is all that oral History of Local Ganeshas is now Online and in black and white. That way I am a happy man that oral literature and Urban folklore is documented. Not just that this time around at least in Hyderabad its all eco- friendly Ganesha and earthern Ganeshas compared to the earlier plaster of paris and colour soaked chemical treated Ganeshas.. Isn’t that wonderful for the planet and for all of us. Seems like Anna Hazare doesnt need another anshan for protecting environment if the pace of change is same.
