Whos the left and Whos the Right ?

I have always wondered and explored of the Ideologies! But never could I really in true form and meaning understand it. May be Iam a bit slow or u could call me dumb. No matter what but I still continue to explore. I gave myself several hilarious justifications or u could say reasoning of why a particular Ideology is Right wing / the other is Left wing.

The first that I have tried giving myself as an answer is that since the Right hand enjoys certain advantages over the left (atleast in the East) and Right wing ideologists usually talk of things on a greater plane (U cud say they talk things that are not understandable to common man, their songs, music, literature) and the Left coz, its generally the neglected one.

But I think I have come really close to something. (Come on boy urn’t a Dumbo!?) This is the references I had from Wikipedia. As with many other things its originated in Europe (French to be precise)

The term comes originally from the legislative seating arrangement during the French Revolution, when monarchists who supported the Ancien Régime were commonly referred to as rightists because  they sat on the right side of successive legislative assemblies.

As this original reference became obsolete, the meaning of the term has changed as appropriate to the spectrum of ideas and stances being compared, and the point of view of the speaker. In recent times, the term almost always includes some forms of conservatism and Christian democracy.
