India’s ‘festivals of elopement’
There are numerous traditions some culturally rich while some have been great fun practicin all along for thousands of years. This is one such festival a tradition in the BHIL tribes of Madhya pradesh, called Bhagoria melas. Usually starting off at the time of Spring and mostly in the Districts of Jhabua which has an 85% tribal population, begining with the colorful much noted festival of colors the HOLI.
Its time for the Singles men and women all descend on this tribal district of Jhabua to select their partners and once they come close as close as their hearts can get they elope. These tribals ressed in colourful clothes and jewellery, they go dancing for the energy filled drumbeats and soothing and romantic flute tunes.
