this is mr venugopal reddy, a social worker from AP currently working in utnoor, jainoor of Adilabad dist, AP among tribals. I met him and I keep meeting such heroes and more for the next one week I shall feature them and more…….
April of 2006 Ekalavya Foundation was launched (27.04.2006).
Mr Venugopal Reddy has been in public life in politics and social life for long and now after all this he decided to do something that he likes the most ie., work among the downtrodden and the most needy sections of the society. The man Mr Reddy was a pracharak of the RSS, he worked in various capacities.
Mr Venugopal reddy lives mostly in the Adilabad district to take care of the community development programmes. He has the vision and patience to bring about the change. He has his team of volunteers that are committed and trained to deal with local issues as well as the developmental issues.
Mr reddy feels that the objective shaping and sharpening the skills of the Tribals, which in turn would of course build a human resource from among them to help them, survive the modern day developments.
There would be a replicable model hamlet / village with a High School, by concentrating on Education, Health and Lively hoods. The foundation under the leadership of Sri Venugopal Reddy has selected six Gram Panchayaths (GPs) and six High Schools in the agency area of Adilabad.
In the community development model taken up by the foundation the first stop has been the Jainoor Mandal of Adilabad Dist., the foundation has selected 37 ST girls and brought them to Hyderabad to impart training in Zardozi (an amazing handicraft) for six months. The training program started on the 10th of October’06 and will continue up to 10th of April’07. We are running a hostel for them at Santhosh nagar Colony, Hyderabad. After the completion of the training, the girls will go back to their villages and will work from there and we are expecting them to earn a monthly income of Rs.1,500-2,000 each.
From our study it was found that the students in High schools are poor in Telugu, English and Mathematics. To fill this gap a supplementary coaching for the 6th class students is being designed in the said subjects from the next academic year. As of now, special classes are being conducted for 6th class students in three schools and basing on this experience we will finalise suitable lesson modules in summer holidays which will be implemented for the supplementary coaching from next year.
There are plans to run a free hostel for 30 ST girls, studying graduation and post graduation at Hyderabad from next academic year with the support from philanthropists.
The Agrochemicals Promotion Group, has come forward to train farmers from july 2007 in twenty Gram Panchayaths to educate them about the judicious use of pesticides and fertilisers for their crops.
The Yuva Jyothi committees with local pro-active youth are formed in 6 villages. These committees would act as the nucleus for the all round developmental efforts in the villages. From the next academic year Yuva Jyothi high school committees will be formed in the six High schools with the students. These committees will not only improve the academic atmosphere of the institutions but also strive to encourage the inherent talent of the students.
For each village there would be a young trained professional to work part-time to coordinate the activities at local level. For various training programes organized by ITDA, we are extending support in registering the trainees from those villages.
The tribals are being exploited of their ignorance of law and their isolation from the mainstream. The foundation intends to bring awareness on revenue, police, forest and judicial departments and their rights that are related with theses 4 crucial departments. As a beginning the project will be taken up in Indravelli and Jainoor mandals. The foundation has started working with an established NGO Shakthi in the field o map reading and revenue records awareness.
Base Line Survey
A Base Line Survey in the selected six villages has been commissioned and completed which shall be a wealth of information for all future programmes. After having a detailed study from the survey reports we will prepare an action plan for the next three years.
The ultimate goal of the foundation is to bring in Integrated development a sustained model of it by joining hands with like minded individuals and organisations. The organisation pretty well knows that nothing is possibly achievable in isolation only teamwork and collective efforts yield sustainable productive results. So we earnestly appeal and welcome to each one of you to the tribal Integrated development project, because without you it stands incomplete.
Contributions in cash, kind or volunteer ism are at most welcome towards the cause.
