I was wanting to write on this particular news item that appeared and simply rocked the Judiciary. The issue was concerning JUstice Sabharwals decisions in the last leg of his career which benifitted his sons both businessman. THe MId-day (http://www.mid-day.com/) daily news paper a tabloid struggling the MEtro now domination in Delhi and Mumbai mirror domination in Mumbai has broken the story and obviously the Supreme court intervenes and sentences the 4 journalists even without hearing to the story or examining the veracity of the facts. SO what do we call this The court cals it Contempt and what shall we call it Hope less…..
A GROUP of jurists and intellectuals said on Thursday that they had official documents to prove that the companies run by the sons of former Chief Justice of India Y.K. Sabharwal benefited from out-of-turn allotment of institutional and industrial plots in Noida in 2004-06, at rates far below the market price.
The group, known as Campaign for Judicial Accountability (CJA), said the documents, procured from the New Okhla Industrial Development Authority, prove the previous Uttar Pradesh government showed unjustified haste in the allotment of plots to Justice Sabharwal’s sons. It said it would send the documents, along with its petition, to the Chief Justice of India, seeking a thorough probe into the allegations of misuse of office by Justice Sabharwal.
Has the Indian Media gone too far when Hemant Morparia published following cartoon in Mid-day? Asks this bloger friend SO DO I have same apprehensions…..
SO Says a journalist Friend on the blog
My contention here is quite simple, of the three pillars of government, the Judiciary can protect itself from all allegations of corruption by using contempt. Lawyers, notoriously corrupt ones, can bend the rules of law quite easily. The Delhi High Court acts with surprising speed in sentencing journalists but ponders for years about the culpability of the Ansal brothers in the Uphaar case. If one of their own is questioned, the Courts suddenly become swift.

There is the NDTV launching its boquet of channels
The NDTV Group announced its foray into the general entertainment space at a press meet in the Capital on Monday. A new company, called NDTV Imagine, will roll out its first general entertainment channel by the end of the year. Headed by Sameer Nair, former CEO of STAR India, NDTV Imagine is part of NDTV Networks Plc.
THen There is the INX anouncing the mega plans with Vir Sanghvi heading it……
INX Network unveiled the brand identities of the three channels – Hindi GEC, music and news. The launch of these three channels will be in the last quarter of 2007.
English & Pockett has developed the logos and identities for 9X and 9XM (GEC and music). Red Bee Media, that works extensively with the BBC has created the logo for NewsX – the English news channel.
HEres the spice of the news from a blogger friend:
the last thing we need is another news channel which will toe the Congress line. But then again, that isn’t the point it seems about this channel, which will be run by Peter Mukerjea and his wife, Indrani, and Vir will look after the editorial policies at the news channel, but they also plan to have a Hindi general entertainment channel and a third channel. Vir’s first hiring at this new channel was a person who lost two jobs in quick succession, but in his next-to-last job, he was quite the favourite.
The logos which have an obvious graphic relationship to each other, also aim to convey the distinct personalities of each of the channels.
NewsX, the company says, connotes “uncompromising clarity and strength with a unique and modern style.”
THere has been quite a bit of euphoria since the August announcement of the plans for launch and structure of the channel. Look at what the response has been on a blog,
English and Pockett is involved in developing visual identities for global media, entertainment and sports organizations such as INX Media Group’s director brand and communications Anthony Pettifer said, “Both English & Pockett and Red Bee Media have succeeded in producing a set of outstanding logos for INX Media and INX News.
