BABA AMTE

Murlidhar Devidas Amte (December 26, 1914 – February 9, 2008)

“He came to be known as Baba not because he is a saint or any such thing, but because his parents addressed him by that name,”
– Sadhanatai Amte (Baba’s wife)

Maharogi Sewa Samithi is what is Anand van ashram. Baba Amte to millions and 1000’s of leprosy patients is a revolutionary that fought the social stigma against leprosy at the same time he fought for the conservation of nature a cause that has become a fashion to many calling them selves social and environmental activists.

When you see Baba Amte you dont feel he is some kind of devine but when you see his work you might feel the divinity of it.

I would rather not speak of awards coz they are by no means any measurement of the work somebody does.
But Here are my prayers for the departed soul.

Wisdom Song: May 2006

“I have lost my father…he taught me how to live,” Patekar to PTI.

  2. This man has such a warm smile and kind eyes. The world will miss him, indeed. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. But as Sunny just said, now “his name will be always written in my heart”. Thanks, Veeru for posting this. I do hope you and your family are well enough. namaste, nina
