I am impressed by jarnail singh but do not know why I am a little bit uncomfortable of the fellas act of throwing a shoe. This frame taken from television footage, Home Minister P Chidambaram gestures as a shoe thrown by a journalist.
An irate journalist threw a shoe at Home minister in a repeat of the attack on US president George W. Bush in a press conference in Iraq last December. Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao has also suffered the indignity. P Chidambaram ducked as the trainer flew past him, and smiled broadly.
The Sikh journalist appeared to have acted after the minister refused to answer a question he had raised at the press conference ahead of general elections in India that start on April 16. (AFP)
Praising Delhi journalist Jarnail Singh for his “courage and bravery” in hurling a shoe at home minister P Chidambaram during a press
conference, Sikh political party Shiromani Akali Dal on Tuesday announced a cash reward of Rs 200,000 for him.
Jarnail Singh hurled a shoe at Chidambaram, at a press conference here, over his response to the Central Bureau of Investigation’s (CBI) clean chit to Congress leader Jagdish Tytler on the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.
The president of the Delhi unit of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) Manjit Singh also supported Jarnail Singh’s act.
